Solar to power natural gas pipeline compressor station

 

Merit SI, a renewable energy developer based in Houston, announced that it has finished building the nation’s first solar power plant for an interstate natural gas pipeline compressor station.

The station, which is located in New Jersey, is owned by the Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Energy which sponsored the project.

Merit is owned in part by Turner Renewable Energy, a private company owned by CNN founder Ted Turner.

Turner Renewable Energy manages the business interests, land holdings and investments of Turner, including oversight of 2 million acres in 12 states and Argentina.
