Ted Turner has made his mark as one of the most influential philanthropists in the U.S. His five foundations are actively addressing some of the world's most important issues and are supporting projects that will help to guarantee a stronger and safer planet for future generations.
The Turner Foundation, Inc. (TFI), founded in 1990, supports efforts for improving air and water quality, developing a sustainable energy future to protect our climate, safeguarding environmental health, maintaining wildlife habitat protection, and developing practices and policies to curb population growth rates. In 1991, the Captain Planet Foundation (CPF) was founded to educate and empower children on how to make a positive impact on their own lives and the health of their communities. In June 1997, the Turner Endangered Species Fund (TESF) was established which works to conserve biodiversity by emphasizing restoration efforts of endangered or imperiled species on the Turner properties. Making history in September 1997, Turner announced his historic pledge of up to $1 billion to the United Nations Foundation (UNF) to support the goals and objectives of the United Nations to promote a more peaceful, prosperous and just world. In early 2001, Turner launched the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a foundation he co-chairs with former Senator Sam Nunn, which works to close the growing and increasingly dangerous gap between the threat from nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the global response.
Ted's Montana Grill Comes Home to Montana Ted's Montana Grill will open the company's first Montana restaurant in Bozeman in June 2008. The restaurant will be located in the historic Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman.
Act Now For A Safer World NTI and Families of September 11 have joined forces to raise awareness about the threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and materials, so citizens can help reduce these threats.
